You had a plan today and there was no way you were going to back out now after everything. Determinedly, you reached out, grabbed the cold brass knob, and pulled the creaky wooden door open. You lifted up your lantern, carefully making your way down the narrow and dangerous staircase.

Soon, you found yourself at the ground floor and switched on the light switch. The once dark room was quickly illuminated, revealing your laboratory of magical potions, items, spell books, and experiments. You set your lantern down onto your cluttered desk and quickly grabbed a jar of dark, red liquid. You didn't waste any time in prying it open, dipping a paintbrush into it, and drawing the summoning circle on your basement floor. Next, you grabbed an armful of candles and traced them all around the star pentagram. One by one, you lit each candle and after each candle was lit, goosebumps began to crawl all over your skin.

This was wrong, you knew that much. But…you couldn't help it. You had a 'wish' and you wanted it desperately. This was something that you knew that you couldn't wait for and you needed intervention -- now.

You didn't need prayers.

You didn't need words of encouragement.

You didn't need to work harder than you already do.

No.

What you needed…

…was a deal with the devil.

You held your spell book in hand as you took in a deep breath, not to calm your nerves, but to summon up every negative feeling in your entire body. If you were going to make this work, you needed to feed your magic with every horrible thought you had.

How long did you have to suffer? To play it safe? To wait? You were tired of abiding by the rules, being a good girl, and never taking risks. You were tired of all these mundane tasks and this horribly hideous world.

You wanted to deviate.

And you wanted it now.

You lifted your right arm and flashed your palm towards the pentagram as you began chanting the spell. With every sentence, power began to surge around you. You continued to feed it your negative energy and suddenly, you knew that a nightmare was about to begin.

The ground rumbled and shook, the potions on your bookshelves were falling and crashing into a million pieces, and a powerful gush of wind began swirling at the center of the summoning circle. You struggled to keep your balance and you picked up the volume of your voice as the rumbling, crashing, and howling grew louder and louder with each second.

You tightly shut your eyes, surfacing all the last amounts of strength and courage you had within you for the finale before shouting out the final incantation.

And for a moment, everything was consumed in darkness.

Are you going to open your eyes?

You had no idea what this creature you summoned would look like. Was it going to look like biblical drawings or like some horrible looking movie creature? You were absolutely terrified.

But then again, maybe you've failed at the summoning ritual?

Cautiously, you slowly opened your eyes, peeking between the cracks of your fingers. The pentagram was there, the candles were all blown out, and that earthquake made a complete mess of your magical study.

But there was not a single creature in sight.

You breathed out a sigh of relief, relaxing your shoulders.  "Oh thank god." You were reluctant about this whole ordeal, maybe this was a sign to stay away from the dark arts.

"God? I think it's too late for that."

You froze, a chill running down your spine as a male voice replied to your remark. Slowly, you turned around, almost falling over in surprise at what you saw. Your eyes were wide in fear and awe as your breathing came out in short raspy breaths. "Y-You…you're…!"

"Did you summon me, human?"

You were prepared for the worst but never in your entire life have you imagined that something so evil, so despicable, so disdainful…would look exactly like a normal human! Except…a million times hotter.

He had the most beautiful shade of red hair! It wasn't like your average red head, it was darker, more vibrant and rich…sort of like blood. His bright emerald green eyes starkly contrasted his hair color but surprisingly, the contrasts were compliments. Like a devil, he was decked out in all black -- a maroon button up, black blazer, tie, pants, and shoes. And of course, he had two black pointy horns at the crown of his head, a long slim spaded tail, and to your surprise, a pair of onyx black wings.

"I never would have imagined that a scrawny girl like you would be able to pull it off." You felt yourself going brick stiff as this creature casually circled around you with his hands in his pockets. He scanned you from the toe up as he stroked his chin and nodded his head in approval, "But I guess I can work with this."

You cleared your throat, trying not to let him faze you. You've read about devils, they were tricky creatures and if you weren't careful, the worst would unfold. You were the summoner and he was working for you. If you didn't show him who's the boss now, he was going to have his way with you like a ragdoll.

"Who," You began, spinning on your heel to stare at him dead straight in the eyes. "Exactly are you?"

He stopped in his tracks, eyes widening slightly at your confidence. He chuckled, his smile revealing sharp fangs. "Oh my dear," He sighed, waving his hands nonchalantly. "Isn't it obvious?" He smirked, his pitch black wings unfolding themselves to their true length.

"I'm the devil."

"Arthur Kirkland, to be exact." He added, picking up a jar of red liquid curiously. "Consider yourself lucky. It's not every day that such a high ranked devil, such as I, would come to the aid of a human."

You just wanted any demon but never would you have imagined to summon such a powerful one. "Then why did you appear?"

"Because I thought, 'How delicious this person's soul would be if I made a deal with them?'" Arthur dipped his finger into the jar, seductively licking the blood off in contempt before smiling at you in amusement. "…Or something like that."

You furrowed your eyebrows in thought as you watched Arthur gulp the blood down like beer. You didn't know what to make of him but you knew one thing.

He was dangerous.

You glanced up at the clock hanging on the wall before turning to the British devil. "Okay, let's make this quick." You ordered, crossing your arms in front of you strictly. "I'm sure you know the reason why you're here. My name is--"

"(Full Name), born on (birthday), (age), (occupation), your favorite food is (food name), and you hate (things you hate)." Arthur interjected, reciting every information flawlessly. "I'd say more, but I don't want to let your little dirty secrets slip out of my tongue."

Your eyes widened in surprise, "H-How…do you know all that?"

Arthur snickered at your panicked reaction. "Love, you can't hide anything from a demon, much less a devil." You took a step back as he progressively walked closer and closer to you. "I know every single thing about you (Name). I know the day you first got into a fight, the time where you put yourself first before other, tossed the blame onto another person, abandoned another human being that was in desperate need of help, turned a deaf ear to cries of attention, and every other sinful act you've committed."

You backed up into the hard cold wall, guilt washing over you at each memory he resurfaced. "What are you tryi--"

Your words were cut off as his face closed in just a few inches from yours, "Just reminding you of your place."

"M-My place?" You muttered in confusion as he walked off in search of something to entertain him.

"From the moment you summoned me, you have already committed the biggest crime of all of heaven!" Arthur explained, waving his hands dramatically. "You are no longer a child of the heavens my dear. You," He stopped in his tracks to look over his shoulder at you proudly. "Are a sinner. You have abandoned faith and turned to the dark side for help. Things like guilt and sadness…they shouldn't bother you anymore. In fact, you should relish inflicting these feelings upon others as a newborn child of hell. Now, you are beyond saving. I do hope that a pretty little face like you knows exactly what kind of glorious mess you have gotten yourself into."

"…I am perfectly aware of that." You lied.

The corner of Arthur's lips curled up into a smile, "Lying already? Looks like you're getting the hang of things rather quickly."

You bit your lip, gripping onto the hem of your shirt angrily. "I didn't summon you to lecture me. I summoned you here to make a wish."

The British devil that was floating around your room lazily quickly perked up at your request. "And that is?"

You took in a deep breath, trying to muster a cohesive sentence that perfectly described your wishes. Like Arthur said, you were far from saving and it was too late to back out now. No matter how much you fought against your conscience or how much regret you felt, this was the choice you have made. You have opened the door and now, there was no way to shut it close ever again.

"I want…" You muttered, staring into those hypnotizing emerald eyes.

Sparking interest, Arthur leaned in towards you excitedly, "You want?"

"…I want…you to help me pass my exam."

"…What?" Arthur's face fell and now he was gaping at you in pure surprise. "I think Cerberus's barking might have ruined my eardrums. Did you just say that you wanted me the most powerful devil in all the gates of hell to help you pass an exam?!?"

You shrinked back from the screaming Brit, "Y…Yes?"

"Ha…HahaHahahahhahaha!!!" Arthur threw his head back as he laughed his lungs out. "Y-You've got to be kidding me!" He cried in between laughing fits. "Your spell was so strong and filled with so much darkness! And all for a silly little exam?"

You frowned, placing your hands on your waist in annoyance, "It's not just any exam! It's a math exam, advanced calculus I'll have you know!"

If there was a way to make a devil crack, this was certainly it.

"Oh sweet Lucifer! A math exam! Bloody hell, you've got to be kidding me!" Arthur roared in laughter, holding onto his sides in pain as you stared up at him in irritation. "Now look, jokes aside poppet. What did you really summon me here for?"

Rolling your eyes, you sighed. "I'm telling you, it's to help me pass my math exam!"

Arthur stopped laughing and turned around to look at you, "…Are you serious?"

You gulped, he did not look happy. "Er…yeah but I totally understand if you don't want to help me out Mr. Arthur sir. You can just go back to your world and I'll just summon another demon to make a contract with and then you find someone with better wishes. D-D-Deal?"

"Oh no, I'm staying right here love."

As much as eye candy you were getting, Arthur absolutely terrified you! You couldn't tell what he was thinking and you weren't sure if you were going to trust such a high ranked devil. He must have some hidden motives in mind. "Why?"

"Hmm," Arthur's spaded tail slowly swished back and forth as he rested an arm on his knee, stroking his chin in thought. "I guess it's because I see potential in you, dear."

"P-Potential?" You repeated in confusion.

"Yes, so much potential." Arthur replied, floating around you in a circle. "The powers you used to summon me…I have never felt anything like it. You have potential, love, and only those with great potential can summon a devil that can give them anything at all." Arthur explained. "I've helped past leaders win elections to rule a country, turned a street rat into an all-time billionaire, created wars, destroyed empires, and even stopped the grim reaper himself from taking a life."

Arthur's voice was hypnotizing and you couldn't help but be drawn in into this conversation. He held out a hand in front of you and in a burst of flame, a picture of yourself dressed in luxurious clothes in a huge mansion appeared. "I can give you money and wealth," The picture disappeared and a new one appeared from the bursts of flames. "Success, fame, respect, power, love, and anything that your heart desires." Arthur recited, each word bringing a new picture. He dusted off his hands, "You name it, I can do it."

You opened your mouth to speak, but closed it as if deciding otherwise. Noticing your hesitation, Arthur continued to lure you into his trap.

"Your hair," Taking a lock of your hair into his hand, he leaned forward to kiss it, causing your face to blush profoundly. "You've always wished that it looked like a certain way right? I can do that."

"You've always felt a little insecure about your body right?" Instinctively, you turned away from Arthur as his eyes scanned your figure. "I can change that."

Next, he waved his hand, causing a picture of the people you disliked the most to appear. "You see those people?" Arthur whispered into your ear from behind you. "I can make them get a taste of their own medicine. I can make their lives a living hell, I can make them take all the wrong paths, I can even make them kiss the very soil you walk on."

You stared at the picture, feeling rage bubble up inside of you. But no, you couldn't give in to his words of poison. "Thank you for your offer, but I don't want any of those things. I don't want to hurt anyone."

Arthur watched you walk towards your table of cluttered witchcrafts. You were definitely a tough nut to crack. He smirked, but then again, who doesn't love a good challenge?

"Well just because I'm a devil that doesn't mean that I can't do good either." Arthur added in as he trailed after you. "Good or bad, I can do it all."

"Even so, I've changed my mind." You concluded. "I'm not interested." You walked back towards the circle, motioning for him to come over. "Now please Mr. Arthur. Thank you for answering my summoning request, but I realized that I do not want to get caught up in any of this."

Arthur feigned a sigh as he dragged his feet towards the summoning circle. "Okay, but what about your exam? Can you really make it?"

You flinched. That was the entire reason why you got caught up in this whole mess. Now, don't go thinking that it's a trivial matter. This math exam was your entire life. If you didn't pass this test, you wouldn't pass your classes and you had NEVER failed a class in your entire life! What would your friends think of you? Your teachers? Your family? You could just imagine the look of disappointment on your parents face, pitiful glances from your teachers, and the secret conversations your friends would have behind your back.

"I…I'll study."

Arthur raised an eyebrow, "Oh? But isn't it tomorrow? You don't have any time for that."

"I will if you would just step into the middle of the summoning circle."

Arthur racked his brains for another strategy. There was no way he was going to be sent back into the demon world without a contract! That has to be the most humiliating and shameful thing for a demon; he would be a laughing stock! He snapped his fingers as an idea struck him, "You know…you're having a tough time right now. I can put a little extra money in your pocket to alleviate the burden."

You stared at him. As much as that would really help…you needed to stay away from his offers. "Thank you, but no."

"Oh come on (Name)," Arthur whines playfully. "You're young! You need to take a few risks in your life and you shouldn't reject any opportunities that come your way, especially ones from a devil."

Well…you did go through all the trouble of summoning Arthur here and he was a really powerful devil. Maybe you really were wasting an opportunity? Your entire purpose was to deviate and maybe…a couple wishes or two wouldn't hurt.

Arthur's eyes twinkled as his lips curled up into a sinister smile. He knew that look, you were falling into his trap. All you needed was just one final push.

"By the way…" Arthur added as he tapped his chin in thought. "I hear someone in your family isn't doing too well in the health department right?"

Your eyes widened and you froze as you recalled that family member. There really was no point in hiding anything from Arthur. "That's not the--"

"Oh?" Arthur interrupted, gasping in shock. "You mean, you're not going to help your family? Do you expect that after a couple of treatments they'll magically be as good as new?" Arthur chuckled, patting your shoulder sympathetically. "News flash (Name), life doesn't work that way."

You clenched your fists at his remark. You knew that very well but… "I have faith that things will be all right."

"Faith?" He scoffed. "I told you, there's no such thing as 'faith' for you anymore. You're a child of darkness, you don't need things like hope or faith. And besides, sometimes faith just isn't enough."

You gritted your teeth, staring up at him defiantly, "I know what you're trying to do Arthur. And I swear, I will not give in to your offers."

"Offers? Why, I'm just trying to help and give you advice (Name). I mean, why wait and hope when you can take matters into your own hands?" Arthur asked. "Why go with the flow when you can control it? Why let your life depend on silly insignificant factors when you can change it? Why play by the rules when you have a cheat code? Why work when you can gamble and take risks?" He whispered into your ear before walking over to the middle of the summoning circle. "And to think, all you have to do is ask me. But!" He shrugged, shoving his hands in his pocket. "I guess you would rather not do any of these things. Well then, if that's all, good evening to you and I'll be--"

"Wait."

Arthur smirked before turning around to look at you curiously. "Yes?"

You gulped, staring at the British devil standing in front of you. Uncertainty and fear clouded your eyes, but it was too late. You were sold to this eloquent devil's proclamations and there really was no going back from this nightmare. "I'll…take you up on that offer."

Arthur grinned, patting your head fondly, "What a good girl, signing a contract with the devil to help her family~" He chuckled. "Oh but I know that there's also much more that you want besides that. Don't worry, I already know your desires just by looking at you."

You fumbled with the hem of your shirt in worry. "Can…you really do all that?"

You heart was pounding so hard that all you could hear was your rapidly beating pulse. The suspense was killing you.

Finally after toying with your emotions, Arthur turned to you, "Oh, I can do that." He replied nonchalantly.

You let out a sigh of relief, but only for a moment too soon.

"But," Arthur continued, a smile gracing his lips. "On one condition."

You arched an eyebrow, "And that is?..."

The corners of his lips curled up in a sinister smirk as he pointed a finger at you, "You. I want your body, your mind, your soul -- everything. They will all belong to me and me exclusively."

You took a step back from him, your face flushed bright red. "M-Me? I-Isn't that a bit too much?"

"Hmm, I don't think so~" Arthur hummed, licking his lips hungrily. "You wanted success, money, happiness, satisfaction, good health to your loved ones, and every other little insignificant thing that you puny humans lust for so much. It's only fair that you hand in everything to me. Compared to your wish, this is only but a small fraction of yours~"

You didn't like the pouty tone he was using. It was like Arthur was playing with you, tricking you into one of those deceiving deals. But no matter how much time and effort you put into thinking everything over, you knew that there was no way you could outsmart a devil.  And besides…you had already lost everything including your faith. What difference would it make if you lost your soul, your very essence of living?

Arthur watched you concede your defeat in amusement, a playful twinkle sparkling in his eyes. It was time to make this contract official. He walked towards you, instantly closing the distance between the two of you. He titled your chin up and lowered his head so that your faces were just a millimeter apart. His hot breath ghosted over your lips, "Do we have a deal?"

Devils appear in the form of everything you could have ever wanted.

They can make you the richest man on Earth,

grant you fame and fortune,

and help you cheat your way through life.

However…

nothing in life is ever free

…and everything comes with a price.

That is of course,

unless you placed a gamble with this creature.

His dark, emerald eyes stared down into your beautiful (e/c) ones, the tips of his messy fringe tickling against your skin. This whole ordeal was so wrong, but it felt so right. With a flushed face, your eyes fluttered shut and you closed the distance between you and Arthur's lips.

But was what you wanted…really worth a deal with the devil?

Arthur knows our dirty secrets? Okay, my dirty little secret is that I am absolutely in love with England's Sweet Devil side. I mean come on, every Hetalia guy's sweet devil side is just too darn hot! But you know, I can totally see myself making such a idiotic wish like this. Oh wait, scrap that.
